How do Standard OLED Displays compare to CRT displays?

Size and Design

Another big difference is in size and design. CRTs were huge! Those old TVs were like gigantic boxes taking up half of your living room. They were heavy, too, making them a pain to move around. And because of the way the electron gun worked, there were limitations on how big and thin they could get.

Standard OLED Displays, on the other hand, are incredibly thin and light. You can hang them on the wall like a painting. Lifespan

CRTs had a relatively long lifespan. With proper care, they could last for 10 – 15 years. However, over time, the picture quality would start to degrade. The phosphors on the screen would wear out, causing the colors to fade and the image to become less sharp.

OLED displays are still improving in terms of lifespan. Early OLEDs had some issues with burn – in, where static images could leave a permanent mark on the screen. But modern Standard OLED Displays have made great strides in this area. With proper usage and technology improvements, they can now last for many years without significant burn – in or degradation.

Cost

When CRTs were first introduced, they were expensive. But as the technology matured and production increased, the cost came down, making them accessible to the average consumer.

In the long run, the superior image quality and other benefits of OLED may justify the higher upfront cost for many consumers.

Viewing Angles

CRTs had decent viewing angles. You could watch the TV from almost anywhere in the room without significant loss of picture quality. But OLED displays take it even further. Since each pixel emits its own light, the viewing angles are almost perfect. You can stand off to the side, and the colors and contrast will still look amazing.
